The pundits and pollsters got the presidential election wrong, and The Donald is “Hired” as Commander-In-Chief. Dave Chappelle returned to TV and put it into perspective on SNL.

The shockwaves continued to run through the sports world this weekend, with college football and the NFL providing its own jaw-droppers.

National Football League (NFL)

Pepto Bismol was flying off the shelves as the NFL delivered drama and a few upset stomachs in a week full of surprising endings.

Voodoo in the Big Easy? The New Orleans Saints were feeling good at home after scoring the tying touchdown with 1:30 left. All they needed was to make the extra point to be sitting pretty but it was blocked and returned for a score propelling the Denver Broncos to a 25-23 victory over.

The Kansas City Chiefs snatched the football – and the victory – away from the Carolina Panthers with 20 seconds on the clock, winning on a field goal as time expired.

In a matchup of two elite franchises, the Dallas Cowboys beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 35-30 and now have the NFL’s best record. The game featured a head-spinning seven lead changes. The Cowboys eventually won with just 10 seconds remaining, overcoming a lead the Steelers established with 42 seconds left.

Turning the tables…The Seattle Seahawks exacted some revenge for their 2015 Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots beating the Pats Sunday night. Once again the game was decided on a critical play at the goal line, this time with the Seahawks smiling.

Recognize your car driver? Some New England fans were lucky enough to get a ride from Patriots’ star tight end Rob Gronkowski.

The New York Giants kept their playoff hopes alive holding off the Cincinnati Bengals 21-20 on Monday Night Football.

College Football

Shock and dismay…The #2, #3 and #4 ranked teams, all 9-0 entering Saturday’s games, lost for the first time this season. Ironic that the last time that happened was 1985 when Back to the Future was the highest grossing film of the year.

  • Crying in Carolina…After several close calls, #2 Clemson lost their first game of the season to Pittsburgh, despite a record 580 yards from Clemson QB Deshaun Watson.
  • #4 Washington looked pedestrian at home and was outmatched by #20 USC.

#8 Texas A&M and #9 Auburn were not immune to the upset bug as they both lost as well Saturday.

What an awesome Veteran’s Day homecoming for Army Officer Ryan Otto who ran onto the field to surprise his family at the Florida State game.

National Hockey League (NHL)

As we wait to see how many Americans actually move to Canada, one thing we know is that hockey fans would take a liking to Montreal as the Montreal Canadians sport the league’s best record. The New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks are hot on their heels.

National Basketball Association (NBA)

Three weeks into the NBA season and the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers sit atop the Eastern Conference. No shock there. The bigger surprise is the Los Angeles Clippers leading the Western Conference with league’s best record at 10-1.

Taking one for the team…New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday is expected to join his team for the first time this season after staying home with his wife, former US women’s national soccer team player Lauren Holiday, as she recovers from child birth and surgery to remove a benign brain tumor. #GoJrue

College Basketball

College basketball didn’t want to feel left out and kicked off its season with great games last week including Indiana’s overtime victory over Kansas, 103-99.

In between protests, the marquee matchups continue at Madison Square Garden Tuesday night:

#2 Kentucky vs. #13 Michigan State

#1 Duke vs. #7 Kansas
