Sports teams across the country paid tribute to service men and women on Veteran’s Day weekend. At the box office the glory continues to be had by Thor: Ragnarok raking in another $56 million, raising its two-week total to over $211 million.

1) The big college football winners last weekend were Alabama and Miami while Georgia and Notre Dame were the big losers

National Football League (NFL)

The NFL showed veterans much-deserved love Sunday. Case in point: the Green Bay Packers.

Victory at last…Kaep’s old team, the San Francisco 49ers, won their first game over the similarly terrible New York Giants Sunday.

40 is the new 30. That’s what Tom Brady is showing. Brady threw three touchdowns leading his New England Patriots to a 41-16 thrashing of the struggling Denver Broncos.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings join the Patriots as 7-2 division leaders. They all trail the 8-1 Philadelphia Eagles for the NFL’s best record.

College Football

Formerly undefeated #1 Georgia fell to #10 Auburn on Sunday dealing Georgia’s championship hopes a serious blow.

No contest…In a resurrection a bitter late-80s rivalry, #7 Miami crushed #3 Notre Dame 41-8. The game propelled 9-0 Miami into and booted 8-2 Notre Dame out of the national championship picture. Miami’s success has many smiling in South Florida and sparked a new craze: the turnover chain.

Another team in the national championship mix, #5 Oklahoma, dominated #6 TCU and now looking good for a spot in the final four.

Soccer

Disastro! That’s the clean version of what’s being said in Italy as the country failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. This will be the first time since 1958 that the soccer-loving country will be staying home during the Mondial.

College Basketball

The college basketball season began last week, and everyone has their sights set on San Antonio and the national championship game April 2. The top two preseason teams are Duke and Michigan State, while defending champion North Carolina is ranked a respectable #9.

From China without love…While in the Land of the Red Dragon preparing for a basketball tournament, three UCLA players were accused of stealing Louis Vuitton sunglasses from a local store. The trio was released on bail Wednesday but confined to their Hangzhou hotel. The drama escalated to the POTUS’ desk as Trump is asking Chinese President Xi for an assist.

National Basketball Association (NBA)

One month into the NBA season the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics have the best records in the West and East, respectively,

Uber or PT? On the other end of the spectrum the Cleveland Cavaliers are struggling at 7-7 but did beat the New York Knicks Monday. Before the game, LeBron James and his squad chose a seven-minute subway ride over a 42-minute car trip commuting to a pre-game practice.
