Black Panther keeps marching ahead at the box office, becoming only the sixth film ever to gross over $600 million domestically.

In the sports world, college basketball’s March Madness brought unprecedented action over the weekend, while the NBA and NHL are advancing toward their playoffs.

TINK Sports Big-3

Here are three things you need to know:

1) The NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, aka March Madness, are down to their “Sweet 16’’ teams

2) The NBA and NHL are winding down their regular season and closing in on the playoffs

3) Big name NFL players are switching teams like hot cakes

College Basketball

Busted Brackets! Anyone that filled out an NCAA tournament bracket is scratching his or her head.

Thrills, chill and epic upsets have marked this year’s Big Dance. The history-making events started Friday night when #1 Virginia got blown out by #16 UMBC. A loss is a loss, right? No, not this one. This was the biggest upset in NCAA tournament history. No 16-seed had EVER beaten a #1 (that’s over 33 years and 132 games).

Even two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry got in on the celebration by giving UMBC some swag after their improbable win.

UMBC’s magical run ended Sunday with a loss to Kansas State, who advanced to the Sweet 16. Michigan and Loyola Chicago also joined the party with buzzer beaters.

Southern discomfort. For the first time since 1979, the top four teams in one region all lost. In the South, heavily favored #1 Virginia, #2 Cincinnati, #3 Tennessee and #4 Arizona were all stunned in first or second round games.

Here’s who survived thus far in this year’s NCAA men’s tournament.

South East Midwest West
#5 Kentucky #1 Villanova #1 Kansas #3 Michigan
#7 Nevada #2 Purdue #2 Duke #4 Gonzaga
#9 Kansas St. #3 Texas Tech #5 Clemson #7 Texas A&M
#11 Loyola-Chi #5 West Virginia #11 Syracuse #9 Florida St.

The games resume Thursday night and continue through the weekend when the field will be pared down to the Final Four.

Don’t forget about the women…The women’s NCAA tournament is going on as well, only with much less drama. The major question is can anyone knock off #1 seeded and undefeated UConn (34-0), winners of six of the last nine national championships.

South Carolina upset over UConn in last year’s national semifinals, en route to winning the national title, provides slim hope. Don’t be too confident going up against UConn, though. The Huskies dropped a tournament record 140 points in a win Saturday and followed up with 25-point victory Monday night.

National Basketball Association (NBA)

Remember us? Basketball and hockey are still going strong and will start their playoffs in a couple weeks.

With roughly 12 games remaining in the regular season the top seeds in the Western and Eastern Conference look set: the Houston Rockets are three games ahead of the defending champion Golden State Warriors, and the Toronto Raptors lead the Boston Celtics by five games.

National Hockey League (NHL)

The NHL is also in its final stretch with about 10 games remaining for each team. The league’s two best squads hail from two unlikely (read traditionally non-hockey) cities: Tampa Bay Lightning and the Nashville Predators.

National Football League (NFL)

NFL free agency is in full force and players are switching teams like its musical chairs. If you were planning to buy anyone in your life a football jersey, make sure his or her favorite player is still on the same squad.
