TINK Sports Emmy Edition

And the winners are…

NFL

The Emmy for leading man at Quarterback goes to Gisele’s hubby Tom Brady who threw for 466 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead his New England Patriots to a big victory over the Buffalo Bills. Congrats to another QB and 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel who led his Cleveland Browns to their first victory and “Johnny Football’s” first career win. Now go celebrate with your friend and Ohio native LeBron James. They can also invite 2013 Heisman winner Jameis Winston whose Tampa Bay Bucs shocked Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.

Not so fast on calling Peyton Manning done as his Denver Broncos are 2-0 and took care of the Kansas City Chiefs Thursday night with a great come from behind victory. The NY Jets or as the fans say “J-E-T-S JETS, JETS, JETS” are also 2-0 after beating the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night

There are some sleepless fans in the Northwest as the Seattle Seahawks, who went to the Super Bowl that last two years, are 0-2. NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers scored two late TDs to lead his Green Bay Packers over the Seahawks and propel the Pack to a 2-0 record.

Tony Romo, the Dallas Cowboys QB and poster boy broke his clavicle (again…ouch), and is going to miss 8-10 weeks. At least this time he has his wife Candice Crawford to help ease the pain. America’s team might be in trouble without him and stud WR Dez Bryant who broke a bone in his foot last week. Despite losing their two stars, the 2-0 Cowboys took down their division rival Philadelphia Eagles, who look out of sync and are now 0-2.

College Football

It was an exciting Week 3 in College Football just like John Stewart, Regina King and Viola Davis winning at the Emmys.

Two of the top 10 teams lost. #2 Alabama fell to #16 Ole Miss (that’s the University of Mississippi for the rest of us) for the second year in a row. That hasn’t happened since 1988. Chad Kelly, the Ole Miss QB and nephew of Bills Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, played great and should be BMOC this week. #6 USC lost at home to Stanford, and yes the really smart kids can play some football. #8 Notre Dame took down #14 Georgia Tech despite loosing their starting QB for the season last week.

MLB

So you want to know about America’s pastime…

In MLB news the playoffs start October 6 and it is almost clear who will be in.

In the National league the New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers look set for the postseason with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs on track to play a one-game wild card game. Maybe a playoff run will help NY Mets’ owner Fred Wilpon recover from the wrath of Bernie Madoff.

In the American League, the picture isn’t as clear. The Toronto Blue Jays lead the New York Yankees for first place in the AL East and the Texas Rangers just took over first from the Houston Astros in the AL West. The AL Central leading Kansas City Royals, who came within one-game of winning last year’s World Series, are a virtual lock to return to the post-season.

How about this, we could have the I-90 Series between St. Louis and Kansas City or the Subway Series between the NY Yankees and NY Mets or see a true resurrection series between the Chicago Cubs and the Houston Astros
