Need a break from Hollywood harassment and political posturing? TINK Sports has you covered.

For the sports-obsessed fans, nirvana has arrived. Why? With the NBA season tipping off Tuesday, the next couple weeks represent the only time all year that all four major North American pro sports leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL) are in action simultaneously.

Big-3

Here are three things you need to know this week:

1) MLB has reached its league championship series, and the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers lead their matchups

2) The NBA season starts Tuesday

3) The Kansas City Chiefs lost and the NFL no longer has any undefeated teams

Major League Baseball (MLB)

If you think you see huge smiles on the faces of generally stoic MLB and broadcast partner execs, you’re right. The remaining playoff teams are from the four most populous US cities. #Ratings

In the American League Championship Series, the Houston Astros lead the New York Yankees two games to one in their best-of-seven series. The Astros are nervously optimistic, while the Yankees are still confident after having come back from down 0-2 to win their previous series against the Cleveland Indians last week. Houston won the first two games at home, both by 2-1 scores, then the series shifted to the Bronx Monday and New York’s bats and gloves woke up, winning 8-1.

The National League Championship Series has the Los Angeles Dodgers leading the defending champion Chicago Cubs 2-0. In Hollywood-like drama, Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday for the win. Is that common? Not at all. The last time LA won in walk-off fashion was in the 1988 World Series – 29 years ago to the date.

National Football League (NFL)

Bad break…Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, considered by many to be the best player in football, broke his collarbone Sunday. The good news: Rodgers had the same injury in 2013 and recovered in time to lead his team to the playoffs. The bad news: Unlike the previous one, this break was on his right, throwing shoulder. #Ouch

In a matchup of two of the league’s best teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers dropped the NFL’s only undefeated team, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Don’t Call it a Comeback…LL Cool J is proud of 32-year-old former MVP Adrian Peterson. Dismissed by the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints this season, AP returned to action with a vengeance. In his first game with his new team, the Arizona Cardinals, Peterson ran for 134 yards and two touchdowns in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Head scratcher. On Sunday night the 0-5 New York Giants travelled to the Mile High City and beat the Denver Broncos despite Denver being a 13-point favorite.

Collusion? Collin Kaepernick thinks so. The currently unemployed former San Francisco 49ers QB, famous for kneeling during the National Anthem, filed suit against the NFL claiming collusion among the 32 owners.

College Football

Chaos on campus…The upsets continued last week in college football with #2 Clemson, #5 Washington, #8 Washington State and #10 Auburn all losing.

The new AP top-5 college football teams are:

1) Alabama

2) Penn State

3) Georgia

4) TCU

5) Wisconsin

Soccer

Know any good travel agents? That’s what US Soccer fans need to rebook their trips to see the team play in next year’s World Cup in Russia. Last week the US lost to Trinidad & Tobago and missed qualifying for the World Cup for the first time since 1986. This was despite a 97% chance of qualifying going into the night. Some are calling this the most humiliating loss in US Soccer history. #Rebuild

National Basketball Association (NBA)

The NBA season tips off Tuesday. As a reminder, the last three NBA Finals have been featured the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, with Golden State winning two of the three matchups.

These two teams are favored to meet in the Finals in June for a record fourth straight season. The Warriors will likely be challenged in the Western Conference by the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs.

In the Eastern Conference, the Cavs only major obstacle looks to be the Boston Celtics.
