They’ve definitely got game…“Wonder Woman,” starring Gal Gadot and directed by Patty Jenkins, brought in over $100 million in its opening weekend making it the highest grossing debut ever for a female director.
In the sports world, the NBA and NHL playoff teams are displaying championship skills while we know European Soccer star Christiano Ronaldo’s got game too.
National Basketball Association (NBA)
After a blowout win Sunday night the Golden State Warriors lead the Cleveland Cavaliers 2-0 in the NBA Finals. Warriors Coach Steve Kerr returned from a two-month absence (due to back issues) to a rousing ovation from the hometown fans. His squad proceeded to notch its NBA-record 14th straight playoff win.
Kevin Durant, the former MVP who joined the Warriors in the offseason, is the Finals’ star of stars scoring 38 and 33 points in the first two games.

Cleveland fans looking for hope need to recall that the Cavs were down 2-0 in last year’s Finals and beat the Warriors in seven games. The Cavs also have the best basketball player on the planet, LeBron James.
Tech meets sports…thought all the action was on TV? It’s not. In addition to the coverage on traditional media, the NBA Finals are also going high-tech with a strong Facebook, Instagram and SnapChat presence. There is also plenty of VR action.
The series shifts to Cleveland Wednesday night, with the game on ABC.
National Hockey League NHL
Iron City or Music City? The defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins were up 2-0 in the Stanley Cup Finals after two games in Pittsburgh. The series shifted to Music City and the Nashville Predators used great goaltending and defensemen play to tie the series 2-2.
The next two games are Thursday in Pittsburgh and Sunday in Nashville, both on NBC.
Soccer
Love him or hate him, Christiano Ronaldo is the man in international soccer. The Portuguese forward lead Real Madrid to a UEFA Champions League title with a 4-1 win over Juventus on Saturday. Ronaldo scored twice and led all Champions League scorers for the fifth consecutive season.

The Sangria and Tinto de Verano was flowing in the Spanish capital as Real Madrid became the first squad to win the Champions League crown in consecutive seasons in the modern era.
Tennis
The French Open Men’s draw is advancing as expected. The top-four seeds, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka and Rafael Nadal, all advanced to the quarterfinals.
On the Women’s side, after more upsets, the two remaining top seeds in the quarterfinals are #2 seed Czech Karolina Pliskova and #3 seed Romanian Simona Halep.
Golf
Taking one for the team? Fatherly love? Both. Five-time Major winner Phil Mickelson said he will likely miss the US Open, being played outside Milwaukee. Is he injured? No. Phil will instead attend his daughter Amanda’s high school graduation. No stranger to golf drama, Amanda was born immediately after the 1999 US Open, in which Mickelson finished second.
Major League Baseball (MLB)
Everything is bigger in Texas…baseball too, this season. The Houston Astros, for years one of baseball’s worst teams, is now its best. The ‘Stros have won 11 games in a row and are running away with MLB’s top record. They are winning over 70% of their games putting then on a pace for a would-be record 117-win season. That probably won’t happen but look for Minute Maid Park to be hopping this Summer.

Welcome to the club…More than any other sport, baseball is a game of numbers. When a major milestone is reached, baseball celebrates. The latest honoree is Albert Pujols who became only the ninth player in league history to amass 600 home runs (doing it with a grand slam on Saturday, no less). At age 37, Pujols is the fourth-youngest player to join the 600 club behind guys you may have heard of: Alex Rodriguez (J. Lo’s current love interest), Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron.
