Families showed their love to fathers across the country Sunday. The US Open and the NBA crowned champions on Father’s Day, too. We hope dad was able to take a break and watch as the excitement unfolded.

Even these NFL tikes got in on the praise.

For those who aren’t planning on going the kid route, Chelsea Handler feels you.

We bring you this week’s TINK with a special tribute to the dads out there.

National Basketball Association (NBA)

The 52-year wait is over…the Cleveland Cavaliers are finally NBA champs. The Cavs beat the Golden State Warriors, the defending champions, 93-89 to win the series 4-3. Cleveland is the first NBA team ever to come back from a 3-1 Finals deficit. Impressive? Very…32 other teams have tried and failed.

#Believaland…Cleveland can smile again. After years of crushing sports defeats, Cleveland fathers can stop serenading their children with “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” This is the first championship in Cleveland pro sports since 1964, when the Beatles classic was topping the charts.

LeBron James, proud father of three, took home series MVP honors and proved he is still the best basketball player on the planet. LeBron was so good he led both teams in Points, Assists, Steals, Rebounds and Blocks. When he left Miami to return to the Cavs two years ago, King James promised to bring a title back home to #TheLand. #MissionAccomplished.

Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors leader and regular season MVP the last two seasons (and father of Riley and Ryan Curry) had a poor Finals. As a pick-me-up Steph can look forward to some good home cooking as his wife Ayesha Curry has a new Food Network cooking show, At Home With Ayehsa.

The 2016 NBA draft, where teams select the best college and foreign players, takes place Thursday. Look for LSU’s Ben Simmons and Duke’s Brandon Ingram to be the first two picks and join the NBA millionaire’s club.

Soccer

The World’s #1 sports is currently on full display in the US and France.

In the US, the Copa America semifinals are set: The United States team surprised Ecuador and will takes on favorite Argentina on Tuesday. Argentina welcomed back star Lionel Messi to the starting lineup last week. Messi rewarded the Argentinian faithful with a goal and two assists Saturday, and in the process became the country’s leading scorer in international play. Columbia squeaked by Peru on penalty kicks and will take on Chile, who annihilated Mexico 7-0, on Wednesday.

While all of Europe may be talking about the Brexit vote this week, the UEFA Euro is heading into the knockout stage. Spain and Italy and are still undefeated and feel great about their chances. Host country France looks good as well with two wins and a tie.

Major League Baseball (MLB)

Getting Greedy? Now that the Cavs have broken Cleveland’s losing spell, fans’ focus now turns to baseball and their beloved Cleveland Indians who are in first place. World Series in October?

The Chicago Cubs continue as baseball’s runaway best team at 47-21. Unofficial team dad, David Ross, received a card and some love from one of the Cubs’ top players.

Some other notable papas in baseball: retiring Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz, aka Big Papi, is having a season for the ages ranking in the top-four in the American League in Batting Average, Home Runs, and Runs Batted In.

On the other side of the spectrum, The San Diego Padres are awful and sit in last place in the National League West. At least the weather and fish tacos are good in SD.

Golf

The best Father’s Day present goes to Dustin Johnson who won the US Open, his first major championship, Sunday. Johnson played a spectacular final round and beat the field by three strokes, overcoming a four-shot deficit (and even a one-stroke penalty). The victory celebration squad included Johnson’s 18-month-old son Tatum, and fiancee, Paulina Gretzky. Winning is common in the Gretzky household as her father, Wayne Gretzky, won four Stanley Cup championships and is the best hockey player ever.
