After a grueling eight month season, the NBA and NHL will crown their champs this week. Let’s take a look at what else is happening in the sports world…

TINK Sports Big-3

Here are three things you need to know:

1) The NBA’s Golden State Warriors are poised to repeat as champions and defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers, again
2) The Washington Capitals are up 3-1 on the Las Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Finals
3) Rafael Nadal and Simona Halep, the Men’s and Women’s top seeds, are advancing steadily in the French Open

National Basketball Association (NBA)

Three out of four? That’s what it’s looking like in the NBA Finals. The Golden State Warriors escaped with a Game 1 victory and then blew out the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 to go up 2-0 on the series.

Golden State’s baby-faced star, Steph Curry, has led the way averaging 31 points and 8.5 assists per game in the two Finals wins. Curry set an NBA Finals record with nine three-pointers made in Sunday’s Game 2 win. If the Warriors win it will be their third title in the last four years, all versus the Cavs.

Checkmate…Even in defeat LeBron James has been amazing and is reaffirming his position as the game’s best player. The King is averaging an astounding 40 points, 8.5 rebounds and 10.5 assists per game in the Finals.

National Hockey League (NHL)

Providing a distraction from the Beltway drama the Washington Capitals have unleashed their dynamic duo of Evgeny Kuznetsov and Alex Ovechkin along with their defense on the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The Caps are up 3-1 and have a chance to win their first Stanley Cup in their 44-year existence Thursday in Las Vegas.

Soccer

Almost there…The Washington Capitals stars are not the only excited Russians in sports. The World Cup, the greatest international sports tournament of them all, is just over a week away in Russia. TINK Sports will have more coverage in the coming weeks but here is a quick overview:

2018 FIFA World Cup overview:

Tennis
Brioche or Baguette? The French Open enters its final stretch and the top seeds are humming along. Rafael Nadal, looking for his 11th French Open title, and Simona Halep have advanced to the Men’s and Women’s quarterfinals.

A familiar face is no longer in the hunt at Roland Garros. 23-time Major winner and three-time French Open champ, Serena Williams, withdrew Monday with a pectoral injury. Serena was playing in her first Major tournament in 16 months since taking a leave to have her daughter.

Picking up the slack for Serena, however, are fellow Americans Madison Keys and Sloan Stephens who both reached the quarterfinals.

Major League Baseball (MLB)

With the NBA and NHL seasons winding down, the Boys of Summer are back in the sports spotlight.

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees have the best two records in baseball. Not very surprising. What is unexpected, though, is that the Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners lead their divisions despite being predicted to finish in the middle of the pack by most pundits.
